Advanced Learners Course (ALC):
ALC is a specially designed self study course for the students who aspire to earn additional credits. The candidates should have a clean pass in all the papers of previous semester in Part I, Part II , Part III and Part IV at the time of applying for ALC. A student can opt for one ALC per year and appear for the ESE conducted during even semesters only if she secures the following Grade Point Average in odd semesters in part III for
- Economics, History, Literature and Commerce - 6 and above
- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and
Zoology - 7 and above
- B.B.M,(CA) ,B.Sc (Computer Science), B.C.A,
B.Com (CA), B.Sc Maths (CA),
B.Com (e-Commerce), B.Sc.,IT - 8 & Above
The credits earned in ALC would be marked as Additional Credits Earned in the mark
Sheet.
If a student fails, she is neither eligible to reappear nor opt for the other Advanced
Learners' Courses.
No tuition fees will be collected from a student who opts for ALC provided no Laboratory
work is involved, but she has to pay the examination fee as in the case of other
courses.
Credits earned in ALC is not considered for the calculation of GPA and CGPA.
A student can earn a maximum of 9 credits in the UG Programmes as additional
credits.

Part-V
Extension Activity:
Each student should necessarily participate in any one of the following activities during the first four semesters to earn a degree.
NCC / NSS / Physical education / YRC / Red Ribbon Club.
40% marks is the passing minimum failing which the candidate should compensate the lack of attendance in the following semesters as per the instructions of the concerned faculty
CIA Components
- Attendance : 15 Marks
- Participation in Camps and other activities : 10 Marks
- Exemplary awards : 10 Marks
- General performance : 15 Marks
Teaching Learning Methodology
General :
To supplement the chalk and talk method, many teaching – learning techniques like Practicals , Field Visits, Industrial Training, Case Studies, Seminars, Team Teaching, Smart Class, Assignments, Models , Group Discussions and Internships are adopted.
EDUSAT :
The installation of Edusat through Everonn has facilitated the establishment of a virtual classroom.
DELNET:
Through Delnet students can have access to the resources of more than 1176 libraries in India and 19 in other countries . Delnet also provides access to more than 80 lakhs bibliographic record of books, journals and articles.
Language Laboratory:
The students are given the facility of English Language laboratory to enhance the skill of correct English pronunciation.
Evaluation
Evaluation has two components:
- Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)
- End Semester Examination (ESE)
CIA Theory carries 15/25 marks & ESE carries 60/75 marks
A student has to appear for 2 CIA Tests of 2 hours duration and a Model Examination of 3 hours duration for each semester.
CIA practicals carries 20/30/40 marks and ESE carries 80/45/60 marks.
Detailed course-wise components are attached at the end separately for each major.
Special CIA Tests
If a student has represented the college by her participation in NCC, NSS, Games, Sports, Intercollegiate competition, placement during CIA tests the Controller's office will make necessary arrangement to conduct the CIA test at an appropriate time.
Attendance:
The eligibility to appear for Comprehensive Examinations of a semester shall depend on the attendance put by the candidate in the respective semester and no candidate shall be permitted to appear for the comprehensive examination of a semester unless she puts in not less than 85% of attendance in that semester(Absence of one hour ,two hours or three hours shall be treated as absent for the session). However absence due to strong medical reasons will be exempted upto 20% of the working days of the college.
Students with above 90% attendance will get 2 marks.
End Semester Examination (ESE)
Two End Semester examinations are conducted in a year in Oct/Nov and in April/May. ESE will be conducted after the completion of 95 working days. ESE will be conducted for 75 marks with a passing minimum of 40% and an aggregate minimum of 40% in CIA and ESE is needed to get a pass in the subject.
- Supplementary ESE:
The outgoing students those who have arrear papers of any semesters (to the maximum of 6 papers) can appear for supplementary examinations. The date of the commencement of the supplementary examinations will be notified along with the publication of results. The examination fee for the supplementary ESE is Rs.250 per paper.
- Retotalling:
There is a provision for retotalling, if applied within 7 days after the publication of results in the college website. The appeal has to be made in the prescribed form through the Head of the Department forwarded by the Principal to the Controller of Examinations, and by remitting the prescribed fee.
- Revaluation:
Revaluation is permitted in all 6 semesters for the students with a clean pass in the previous semesters. Within 7 days after the publication of results in the college website the student has to apply through the Head of the Department forwarded by the Principal to the Controller of Examinations in the prescribed form, remitting the prescribed fee.
- Improvement:
There is provision for the students to improve their marks. Improvement can be done only in the immediate next semester. The highest total (Original or Improvement) will be taken as the final marks. Improved marks shall not be considered for calculating distinction and rank.
- Reappearance:
If a student fails in ESE, she can appear for the same in the subsequent semester. Each paper can be attempted only six times in the subsequent semesters, including the first appearance in the syllabus in which she has studied. In case even after six subsequent attempts the candidate fails, she will have to appear for the current syllabus thereafter.
- Moderation:
Moderation is considered in the valuation of answer scripts in case of defective nature of the question paper due to the following features :
a. ambiguity
b. out of syllabus
c. errors in numbers and symbols
Grievance and Appeal Committee:
A student who is not satisfied with the marks awarded can refer the matter to the Grievance and Appeal Committee within 3 days of the issue of mark sheet through the Head of the Department. The decision of the committee will be final. Grievances on any other aspect of autonomy can be referred to this committee.
Malpractice:
i) Candidates scribbling on the question paper will be sent out of the examination hall.
ii) Candidate found in possession of material written in the form of printed/xeroxed/cyclostyled/handwritten or in any other means i.e., written on paper, cloth, scale, furniture etc., but not found to have copied from the above. The particular examination taken up by the candidate will be cancelled and she will be debarred from writing the rest of the examination if any in that semester.
Valuation:
1. Theory: There will be a single valuation for UG. External and Internal Examiners are chartered for the ESE paper valuation.
2. Practicals: For Zoology and for Elective Practical in computer based papers of B.Sc. Mathematics, B.A.Economics and B.Com, ESE Practicals are conducted with internal examiners. For other subjects ESE Practicals are conducted with both internal and external examiners.
Minimum Credits to Earn a Degree
- A student must get a minimum of 140 credits to earn a degree
- A student will be required to undergo all the courses prescribed by the department of each semester
