Achievements

  • The department has proved its reputation by securing first place (before and after autonomy) among the colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University (vide - booklet “The choice is yours” published by Bharathiar University in July 1999)
  • Many of the old students have excelled as rank holders in the university and competitive examinations (BRTP, NET, SLET etc.,). A considerable percentage of students have pursued higher studies and are well placed.

Highlights

  Research

Our department has started concentrating more on research activities in the recent years.

  • Conducted UGC sponsored national level seminar, which was attended by 350 participants
    representing 9 universities. (45 papers were presented).
  • Conducted an intercollegiate students’ seminar. (24 papers were presented).
  • Faculty members have presented 9 papers in the National / International seminars / Conferences / Symposiums between the years 2000-2003.
  • A paper on Nonlinear Evolution equations was published in the proceedings in Nonlinear Science (Manchester University Press).
  • Eight of the members are recognized for guiding M.Phil projects.
  • One member of the department has registered for Ph.D in the year 2003-2004.

Extension Activities

  • In-service Training programmes/Workshops/Exhibitions for middle school teachers
  • The department conducts certificate course in Basic Mathematics for non-mathematics students.
  • Special coaching programmes for middle/elementary school students and staff are conducted through NSS programme.
