Department of English

The Department of English was established in the year 1959 with a strong mission of enabling  the rural students to acquire the language skills and communication skills through part II and  Part III English Literature. Moreover the students were opened to the different avenues of literature and shine in the job world.

The department was upgraded into a research department in the year 2002. The students were enabled to enter   various fields especially the educational institutions. Exposure to English and correct pronunciation is provided through the classroom teaching, Language Lab and the special software skill phones. The final year students also enjoy the English classes through the communicative English hours.

English movies are screened to improve their English knowledge. Every year Bridge Course is arranged to bridge the gap between the higher secondary and Tertiary Education. For 10 full days English is being taught. English movies are screened in the afternoon hours. Exposure to the communicative English and Soft-Skills makes the students get good placement opportunities. By acquiring good communication skills the students fair well in the job market in the present era of globalization.
