Our college was founded in 1952 by the late Sri G.V.Govindaswami Naidu the great industrialist and the magnificent philanthropist of Udumalpet.Autonomy was granted since 1995 June.
Ours is the first Womens College to become autonomous, under Bharathiar University. It creates a participatory environment in which the teachers and students can help in bringing about academic reforms, restricting of courses of study and experiment with new educational ideas and functions as growth points for better standards.It strengthens the entire spectrum of the curriculum at the undergraduate and postgraduate level with the inclusion of sociality relevant, application oriented courses.
It creates a conductive teaching-learning environment through proper teaching evaluation technologies.It inculcates the importance of value oriented education.It promotes the personality development of students through a series of Co and Extra curricular and extension activities.
It is the first Womens College under Bharatiar University accredited by NAAC. Having been identified as an institution moving towards quality and excellence, the college introduced Choice Based Credit System from the Academic year 2004 – 2005, at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate levels and postgraduate Diploma Level.
There is a separate Controllers office from the inception of Autonomy. Controllers office is a cantonment area. There is a Board in the entrance indicating Admission with Permission. If necessary, a person can enter the section only after getting the permission. The entering person should put his / her signature and the purpose with time.
