Part A:


IQAC chalked out twin courses of action to be pursued for the academic year 2009-10.

  • to promote activities reflecting the goal and objectives of the college, to empower rural women with entrepreneurial qualities and

  • to facilitate faculty maturation in the field of ICT of young teachers in the departments of  computer science and information technology. 

Part B:

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution.

In view with the goals and objectives of the institution to offer quality education , the college obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification from TUV Rheinland groups. The college entered into an MoU with HCL k2 Academy to offer MicroSoft  Certified and Cisco certified  courses and soft skill programmes.

Internship program was introduced to gain industrial knowledge in all disciplines. More application oriented and skill based courses were introduced

Online test is introduced as one of the components continuous internal Assessment. It was decided to introduce a model examination of 3 hours duration with a weightage of 5 marks in the total CIA marks as per UGC guidelines.

Best paper present Award(Dec 09-10)in the International Conference on  “Survival and Growth Strategies for Business Dynamics,”Annamalai University.   Dec’ 2009 has been awarded to Dr.N.Lakshmi of the Department of Commerce.

Rs.70,000/- through establishment of stalls during Fine Arts week celebrations.

Besides the regular NSS activities the Extension Cell of our College activity involved in carrying out educational programme and other Health awareness programmers in nearly 15 villages adopted by various deparments.Theses departments have adopted panchayat union government middle schools in and around Udumalpet.

  • Barcode Data Entry Gate system was installed to get the correct user statistics

Online publications of results are under taken for the past 5 years.

  • Installation of 5Water Doctors at Various places to ensure pure drinking water availabilities to the students.

  • 7 class rooms of dimensions 30x20 are constructed.

  • Incinerator and vending machines are installed.

28. Technology up gradation:

Installation of genset with 125 KV and water treatment plant was done during the year.

29. Computer and internet access and training teachers and students:

Through varied faculty development programs 16 of our young teachers in Computer Science, IT and Computer Application Departments were given orientation in emerging areas of information and communication technology through ICT Academy of TamilNadu

30. Financial aid to students

As our college motto says, “Not for self but for all”, “Students Aid Cell” was constituted in June 2001 to take care of the welfare of the students and to extent financial help in the form of term fees, examination fees, dress etc. From the year 2007-08, our college is offering free education to 20 students for their entire period of studies in UG/PG courses from October 2009 onwards. Noon meal scheme for the poor students is introduced to provide mid day meals for the students.

31. Activities and support from the Alumni Association

Alumni Association has contributed fund for the construction of Thar Road in our college campus.

32. Activities and support from the parent-Teacher Association

A good and cordial relationship is maintained with parents. Parents are satisfied with the coaching provided and discipline ensure in the campus. They extend full co operation in molding the students. Based on the request of the parents, the following arrangements were made:

  • Transport facility from bus stand to college

  • Special coaching for weak students

  • Spiritual discourses and yoga classes

  • Motivation to take up professional courses

  • Direct information about slow learners

  • Help in kind and cash to poor students through students aid cell

33. Health services

Health and Hygiene club organized special speeches on ‘The Impact of fast food’ and Physiological problems faced by Teenagers’,. Various programs were also held to create awareness on Aids, proper food habits and maintenance of Hygiene  in public places.  Joining hands with the world peace organization the club educated  the students on the nature and symptom of the virus that caused Swine flu.  The ICDS (Integrated child Development Scheme) and the college organized Nutrition  celebration week to stress the importance  and need of healthy diet and nutrition..

Cash awards were given by the management for students with outstanding performance in a sports and athletic events.

36. Students achievements and awards

A Rural – Urban Study Exchange Programme was conducted at MOP Vaishnav College, Chennai. 10 of our students learnt entrepreneurial skills during the time of their stay. This programme was broadcasted by All India Radio on 04-01-2010.

Sree.Janani of III B.Com(CA) is selected by Nehru Yuva Kendra, New Delhi and Bharathiar University to attend the cultural programme in Greece.

The students of Mathematics bagged the rolling trophy for their overall performance in an Intercollegiate competition and bagged first and second prizes in modeling and miming conducted at PKR Arts and Science College, Gobichettipalayam and Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul.

The student of Commerce bagged the overall shield in COMFEST 2010 an Intercollegiate competition, securing first prize in paper presentation and just a minute.

Our NCC cadets won first prize in Firing, in cross country in group song and in map reading and second prize in line area in TN 5th battalion for girls.

First, second and third prizes were won by our students in the English Elocution, English essay writing and Marathon for super senior girls in connection with youth activities celebration of Rotary Club of Udumalpet.

First, second and third prizes were won by our students in the competitions conducted by Forest Departments during the Wild Life Week Celebrations.

V.Soundariya of III B.Com(CA) won II prize in state level Elocution competition conducted by Wild Life Tiger Reserve, Guindy, Chennai.

The students of Mathematics won first prize in “Best from Waste” and first prize in “Maths Sketching” in an intercollegiate competition.

The students of computer science students won first, second and third prizes in intercollegiate competition conducted at various colleges.

The students of BBM(CA) won first, second and third positions  in an intercollegiate competition held at Sarawathy Thiyagaraja College.

The students of Information Technology Department bagged first and second positions in easy writing and in speech competition conducted in an intercollegiate competition.

The UG and PG students  of Literature bagged first and third  positions in paper presentation, music composing and verse writing in an Inter University Literacy Festival held at Gandhigram Rural Deemed University, Dindigul.

The students of  the department of Physics participate in an intercollegiate competition conducted by Dept. of Physics, Gandhigram Rural Institute and won I, II and III prizes in various competitions such as Skill  Track, Physics Rangoli, Just a minute and Add act.

16th of our students participated in an intercollegiate cultural programme organized by NIA Institutions, Pollachi. Students bagged first prize in group dance and in solo dances and II and III prizes in group dance, rangoli competition in solo song.

Nehru Yuva Kendra, New Delhi, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Govt. of TamilNadu, under the umbrella of  NSS of Bharathiar Universiry organized a state level cultural competition. First prize, a cash award of Rs.2000/- with a shield was given to group dance.

Govt. of Tamilnadu, Chennai, Tamil Mayiam  Namma Tirupur 2010. Organized a cultural competition at Tirupur Chikkana College of Arts and Science. First prizes were secured for group dance, solo song , oratorical competition and III prize in solo song.

37. Activities of Guidance and Counseling unit

Counselling is provided to students with the assistance of an advocate apart from the ward system maintained by the college.

38. Placement services provided to students

Nearly 256 of our students are placed in various companies like Sharp Infosys, Seyyone, Igate, Infosys,TVS Finance. Some of them have also been shortlisted for medical transcription. They are placed in the salary scale of Rs.2 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs, per annum.

39. Development programmes for non-teaching staff.

Software training is given to Non-teaching staff in keeping of Accounts & Paybill.

40. Healthy practices of the institution

Campaigns on Environmental Awareness and outreach  to Panchayat Schools to educate the children on good habits and values.

  • In accordance with the action plan chalked out the college established a women studies centre in lieu goal and objectives of the college to empower rural women. The courses on

  • Encouraging women entrepreneurship 

  • Promoting computer learning and

  • Offering  gender studies as Diploma Course
